From Humble Beginnings:
Kenny Grimes started in the plastics industry in 1966 molding phonographic records in Richmond, Indiana. It was there that he met his future wife Nancy, the fastest operator he had ever witnessed, regardless of which machine she was on! After a courtship, he proposed and they began their life together. After 20+ years of marriage and numerous long talks, their pioneering spirit drove them to start Pearl Custom Plastic Molding, Inc. in the back of an old feed mill.
The name was in honor of Kenny’s father Pearl, who proudly served in the US Military and fought in WWII. Nancy would run the business and Kenny, who was still working elsewhere, would do maintenance. To start, they bought an old press at an auction but it arrived in pieces. However, that did not discourage Kenny who, after some head scratching, was able to restore it to its former glory and the business was born!
To Growth:
Kenny and Nancy worked day and night to get the business off the ground. Their customers recognized the quality and dedication to fulfilling orders. In 10 years’ time, they outgrew the old feed mill and bought their own building in Gwynneville, Indiana.
To a Lasting Legacy:
Sadly, in 2022 Nancy unexpectedly passed away. Their daughter Lisa and Kenny kept the business going, but in 2024, at the age of 76, Kenny decided to retire and sell the business.
In 2025, a group of entrepreneurs purchased the business, recognizing the solid foundation Kenny and Nancy had built. By upgrading the technology and relocating to a larger production facility, the company stands ready to continue the growth and success that started over 40 years ago as an American Dream.
